WRITE ON AFRICA

CREATIVE ACTIVISM, MAKING LOVE VISIBLE.”

Creative inspiration and urban rejuvenation through special events, initiatives and Art in Public Space.

Write on Africa is an initiative that mobilizes creativity in Cape Town for social change.

The aim is to to rejuvenate with color and inspire the youth ,each other and ourselves.
The artwork and projects we create are a window to the imagination for our audience young or old, this allows us to create a connection with and make difference in the communities we work in:

Peter Pan” theory;
The idea that everyone forgets how to fly as as they grow up.
Everyone is creative and everyone is an artist therefore through creative projects ,we want to inspire and effect the heart so people can feel uplifted and empowered to go and make a difference in their community.

You can do what you love and you can change the world.
WHO:
Write on Africa is run by /A WORD OF ART: Founded by Ricky Lee gordon:
http://www.a-word-of-art.co.za/
WOA draws from a creative pool of local and international artists as it is connected directly to the creative community, and helps build this community through art projects making use of its studio, project space and art gallery based in Woodstock Cape Town.

WHAT:
The idea was for A Word of Art to fund its own creative campaigns like:
1000 DRAWINGS Cape Town, A one night event attended by over 2500 people , that collected over 5000 A5 donated drawings from around the world to raise over R100 000 for the Write on Africa mural campaign, Princess Alice adoption home,Earth-child,Lucca Leadership and Ya Pabello NGO’S

HOW:
WOA is now challenging brands and corporates to support the initiatives and proudly partner up with us to make an even bigger difference.
For example most recently we challenged and have partnered up with advertising giants Ogilvy to to completely change the face of a local Woodstock “home for boys”
In addition we have started to a initiative called TREE HOUSE aimed to bring young kids into the Word of Art studios for a day of play and art, followed by a walk in the local forest.
